About

Nickie Holford grew up in London, moving first to Suffolk in the late 90’s before settling in Norfolk around seven years ago where she currently lives and works.

She paints in conversations with colour — bold, unfiltered, and alive. Her work dives headfirst into emotion, tangled relationships, and the chaotic harmony between nature, self, and others.

Her fascination with light remains a constant source of inspiration. A background in technical theatre informs her choice of subjects and imagery, lending a sense of drama and layered storytelling to her visual art.

Every portrait she paints is an attempt to convey the full spectrum of human feeling — love, loss, ecstasy, despair. She’s not chasing perfection, but a longing for connection, an invitation to feel – forging a genuine connection between artist and viewer.

Though acrylic and oil are her main mediums, Nickie isn’t bound by rules. Watercolour, spray paint, graphite — whatever medium matches her mood — becomes part of her toolkit. Her process is impulsive, instinctive, sometimes chaotic, always emotional.

Nickie is a member of Easterly Artists, the Visual Artist’s Association (VAA) and Eastern Contemporary Artists.
